Government Productivity Engineering (GPE) is the engineering group within GovTech Singapore that builds and runs the shared platforms public officers use to do their work. GPE spans productivity tools, digital workplace platforms, core infrastructure and service operations - bringing engineering, infrastructure and operations together to deliver trusted platforms at scale, strengthen service resilience, modernise foundational infrastructure, and accelerate adoption of AI-enabled tools across government
The Cloud Programme builds and runs the shared cloud engineering capabilities and hosting services that support agencies across the whole of government. It enables government teams to adopt cloud securely, reliably and efficiently, while strengthening resilience, operational control and engineering capability across the public sector.
The Programme brings together two core domains. The Cloud Engineering Teams build and evolve common cloud platforms, automation, guardrails and engineering services that help agencies deliver workloads safely at scale. Hosting Support Services provides coordinated operational and commercial support across government hosting environments, improving cost transparency, service quality, vendor management and agency choice.
Together, these capabilities support a diverse estate of government workloads across public cloud, private and sovereign environments. The Programme must provide dependable foundations for critical services while simplifying cloud adoption, reducing fragmented operating practices and raising engineering standards across agencies.
The Programme is also shaping the next generation of AI-ready, sovereign and resilient infrastructure for government. This includes strengthening internal engineering capability, creating scalable hosting and support models, and ensuring government retains the technical control and operational resilience needed for critical and confidential workloads.
The challenge is to transform cloud and hosting delivery across government while continuing to operate and improve services that agencies depend on today.
The Deputy/ Assistant Director (Engineering Management) is the engineering leader for the Cloud Programme, accountable for engineering outcomes across the Cloud Engineering Teams and Hosting Support Services for the whole of government.
The Programme's Engineering Managers report to this role. Through them, the Deputy/ Assistant Director leads multiple engineering teams, sets the technical direction and operating model for government cloud engineering, and ensures Hosting Support Services delivers reliable, transparent and scalable outcomes for agencies.
The role has three core responsibilities:
Build and lead a strong cloud engineering organisation - develop Engineering Managers and technical leaders, insource critical capability and create the conditions for teams to deliver consistently across government. Own the technical health of government cloud platforms and hosting services - ensure they remain reliable, secure, resilient, cost-effective and operationally sustainable.
Transform Hosting Support Services for WOG - establish a coherent service model that gives agencies clearer cost visibility, stronger support, effective vendor management and greater hosting choice.
This is a role for an engineering leader who can move comfortably between organisational leadership, cloud architecture, service operations and delivery - coaching Engineering Managers, shaping programme-wide technical decisions, challenging delivery and operating plans, and representing technical, operational and commercial trade-offs to senior leadership. A central challenge of the role is to do two things well at the same time: operate dependable cloud and hosting services for government while transforming the engineering capabilities, service model and infrastructure foundations underneath them.
Lead the Programme's Engineering Managers and set technical direction across its Tech Leads and engineering te
