A successful Engineering Manager should have:

  • Lead, manage, and coach the engineering and maintenance teams to ensure strong performance and team engagement;
  • Promote a culture of safety across the plant by ensuring the safe and efficient use of equipment, providing regular training, sourcing the safest equipment available, and driving continuous improvement in safety, ergonomics, and compliance;
  • Ensure all equipment and operations meet relevant legislative and regulatory safety requirements;
  • Maintain clear communication and strong collaboration with the leadership team, particularly with Production and Health & Safety Managers;
  • Oversee and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program, ensuring planned shutdowns are communicated and managed effectively;
  • Contribute to productivity improvements by supporting the development of new procedures, process innovations, and equipment enhancements;
  • Continuously plan for future operational needs, including equipment upgrades and procedural improvements;
  • Prepare and review engineering change requests to support ongoing process and product development;
  • Take ownership of process improvement, equipment modifications, project management, digital transformation, energy efficiency, facilities, utilities, and capital investment planning;
  • Coordinate and manage internal engineering teams as well as external consultants and contractors;
  • Develop actionable engineering plans to guide timely and cost-effective project delivery;
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive technical specifications for equipment, infrastructure, and technology;
  • Lead equipment installation, commissioning, and start-up activities to ensure smooth operational transitions;
  • Align continuous improvement initiatives with overall company strategies and performance objectives;
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the success of the engineering function and overall business operations.

Perfil ideal

A successful Engineering Manager should have:

  • Degree or Master in Engineering (Industrial, Polymer, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering);
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in engineering roles in an industrial or manufacturing environment;
  • Proven experience in leading and developing high-performing engineering or maintenance teams;
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering engineering projects on time and within budget;
  • Strong leadership, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Portuguese and English;
  • Passionate about continuous improvement and committed to achieving world-class engineering standards.
