Job summary

Aptiv is seeking a Senior Test Development Engineer to advance testing across automotive programs. You will design ICT/BLP/EOL tests, lead test strategy workshops, and ensure robust equipment and documentation to support development and production.

Ideal candidates will have strong LabVIEW, Python, C/C++, CAN/LIN knowledge, and Six Sigma experience, with the ability to collaborate with global engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical & Electronics or Mechatronics.
• Experience in manufacturing test development for automotive/electronics/high-volume production.
• Knowledge of ICT, Boundary Scan, Functional Testing, Programming Systems, and ATE.
• Knowledge of CAN/LIN/LVDS/Flex-Ray automotive protocols.
• Proficiency in test software development with LabVIEW, NI TestStand, LabWindows CVI, C/C++, Python, or C#.
• Six Sigma tools, Minitab, and process capability analysis.
• Experience with equipment qualification, GR&R, and quality systems.
• Strong project management, problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance test software, test hardware, and tools for product programs.
• Design, develop, validate, and optimize ICT, BLP and EOL Functional Test solutions.
• Lead test strategy discussions and MSD workshops with the PML to define deliverables.
• Enforce requirements management for the test process.
• Define and implement test equipment configurations and methodologies.
• Lead test coverage analysis and drive changes for early design phase issues.
• Utilize Six Sigma methods to optimize CPK of tests.
• Plan procurement of test equipment and tooling to support schedules.
• Perform test equipment buy-off and qualification with suppliers.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive test documentation and lessons learned.
• Provide training and knowledge transfer to Operations Support.
• Participate in escalation reviews with customers, suppliers, and programs.

Job Position: Senior / Test Development Engineer

Primary Job Purpose:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance test software, test hardware, and application-specific tools for assigned product programs


• Design, develop, validate, and optimize manufacturing test solutions, including In-circuit Testing (ICT), Board Level Programming (BLP) and EOL Functional Test


• Participate in project kick-off meetings and Manufacturing System Design (MSD) workshops with/in the PML to define test strategy and deliverables


• Enforce proper requirements management for the assigned test process


• Define, standardize, and implement appropriate test equipment, hardware configurations, and test methodologies for assigned programs


• Lead test coverage analysis process, ensuring adequate test coverage for the assigned test process, request design changes in case test coverage issues in early design phase


• Utilize 6-Sigma for Test Statistical Analysis Methods to optimize CPK performance of parametric electrical tests


• Plan and track procurement of test equipment, tooling and fixtures, ensuring availability to support development and production schedules


• Perform test equipment buy-off at suppliers, drive capability studies, strain measurement, create list of key parameters to be transferred to quality plan


• Prepare and maintain comprehensive test documentation, including specifications, procedures, work instructions, and lessons learned, in accordance with Aptiv standards and procedures


• Provide technical training and knowledge transfer to Operations Support team


• Participate in customer, supplier, and program management escalation reviews when required, providing technical expertise and corrective action plans

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline


• Experience in manufacturing test development for automotive, electronics, or high-volume production environments


• Knowledge of ICT, Boundary Scan, Functional Testing, Programming Systems, and Automated Test Equipment (ATE)


• Knowledge of automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, LVDS, Flex-Ray


• Proficiency in test software development using languages such as LabVIEW, NI Teststand, Labwindows CVI, C/C++, Python, C#, or equivalent


• Knowledge of Six Sigma tools, Minitab, and process capability analysis


• Experience with equipment qualification, GR&R studies, capability studies, and quality systems


• Strong project management, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills


• Effective communication skills and ability to work with global engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams
