Engineer, Manufacturing (Marsiling)

We’re looking to add a Manufacturing Engineer in Singapore. The position will be based in our GES office in Marsiling.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will:

Responsible for providing engineering support to sustain manufacturing of high-end life sciences instruments in mass production, as well as carry out NPI activities for successful product transfer into mass production.

The key responsibilities are as below:

1. NPI Roles:

• Liaise with R&D/NPI Engineers and customer during NPI stage to roll out activities for Product Transfer from NPI Phase to Pilot/Mass Production.
• Production Line setup and equipment planning for new project launch, define manufacturing line layout, sourcing for tooling, fixtures and equipment and prepare CAPEX for NPI build.
• Setting up shop floor control Data Gating system (DGS).
• Keep shop floor MES (DGS) up-to-date by resolving day-to-day issues or changes arising from Engineering Changes.
• Manage Preventive Maintenance (ePM) of production line tools, jigs & fixtures and Testers in GAMS and maintain up-to-date documentation including any qualification records of changes done to Jigs/Fixtures/Testers.
• Follow up on equipment Calibration/Replacement: Verify Calibration Report and updating of Calibration Master-list.
• Apply Lean manufacturing concept to minimize the waste of material and labour.
• Generate Manufacturing Instructions for mass Production build.
• Perform assembly and test cycle time and touch time analysis.
• Plan and assist to execute Prototype builds, Engineering builds/ Pilot Builds and channel the necessary feedback to the product design team to resolve any product issues impacting the Production Yield /Output, before moving to first production.
• Provide DFM / PFMEA feedback and assembly Jigs/Fixture Qualification & buyoff for Production.

2. Sustaining Roles:

• Monitor and Improve Assembly and Test First Pass yield to meet or exceed the targets.
• Perform First Level Failure Analysis of Production Fallouts and follow up closely to resolve line issues quickly without impacting production output.
• Provide training to Production Line Leaders/Operators on assembly and test Processes.
• Updating of Manufacturing Instruction (MI) and Test Instruction (TI) arising from Engineering Changes (ECN).
• Work with Product Engineers to make changes to production processes, such as TMPCN, to contain/resolve any Non-Conformance (NC) on shipped units or to improve cycle time (cost reduction).
• Initiate and work on Continuous Improvement opportunity: Cycle Time/Cost Reduction and /or Quality improvement.
• Preparation of Weekly and Monthly Reports of Production Performance and presentation to Customer.

What skills and experiences are we looking for?

• Degree in Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, and/or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing of electro-mechanical products, preferably in Life Science Instruments manufacturing.
• Knowledge of Medical or Life Science Instrument Manufacturing and exposure to ISO 13485 / US FDA 21 CFR.
• Validation of Production Processes and Equipment (Testers, Jigs & Fixtures).
• EE component and circuitry knowledge, EE test and measurement know-how in using various test equipment for troubleshooting EE issues (DMM, oscilloscope, spectrum analyser & etc).
• Possess mechanical assembly know-how, able to apply DFM/DFA/PFMEA study.
• Possess logical thinking with systematic approach in problem solving.
• Able to use SPC tools such as Minitab or SQC Pack to analyse production data.
• Prior experience in LEAN or Six Sigma, certified practitioner will be an added advantage.
