Job summary

A leading company in the marine industry is seeking a Site Lifting Supervisor to oversee lifting operations at their Changi location. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with safety protocols and coordinate with crane operators and riggers to maintain efficiency on-site. Candidates with a diploma in Mechanical Engineering and relevant experience or training will be considered. This role offers a structured work week and transport provisions for staff.

Job description

OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE:

  • Liaise with multiple parties (Production) involved in the lift, including crane operators, riggers and site managers (SRM)
  • Involves a blend of technical knowledge, leadership, and site management related communication skills
  • Oversees and manages all lifting operations on-site
  • Ensure lifting operations are conducted safely, efficiently and according to the plan with compliance to health and safety regulations
  • Preparation for VSCC meeting

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Attend daily VSCC for the project assigned and apply Permit-To-work (high-risk lifting operations)
  • Developing and implementing lifting plans, ensuring all necessary equipment is available and in good working order, and coordinating with the lifting team (crane operators, riggers, signalmen)
  • Ensure that all aspects of the operation are carefully considered from the type and size of the crane to the load’s weight, shape and movement (Safe work procedure)
  • Conduct inspection on equipment and ensuring the safety of the work environment.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments, ensuring safe ground conditions, and verifying that only qualified personnel are involved in the operation.
  • Monitoring the lifting operation to ensure adherence to the plan and safety protocols, addressing any issues that arise.
  • Maintaining accurate records of inspections, incidents, and other relevant information.
  • Verify relevant documents (e.g. load capacity chart, range diagram, rigging method)
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Addressing and resolving any safety concerns or operational issues that may arise during lifting operations.
  • Being present during all lifting operations, monitoring progress, addressing any issues or safety concerns, and ensuring the operation is conducted according to the plan.
  • Ability to lift routine item as well as Non- CG Items (loads that may require special rigging techniques or equipment)
  • Responsible for Side-shifting and undocking duties

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The ability to supervise and guide the lifting team, ensuring that all members understand their responsibilities and work safely.
  • Clear and concise communication with the lifting team, including crane operators, riggers, and signalmen, to ensure everyone understands the plan and their roles.
  • The ability to plan, organize, and coordinate lifting operations efficiently, ensuring that all tasks are completed safely and on time.
  • The ability to identify and resolve issues that may arise during lifting operations, such as equipment malfunctions or unexpected load behaviour.
  • Meticulous attention to detail when inspecting equipment, conducting pre-lift briefings, and monitoring the lifting operation.
  • Working along with RSN's Documents (OCP)

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Combination of technical knowledge and practical skills to oversee safe and efficient lifting operations
  • Understand lifting equipment, rigging techniques, load distribution, and relevant safety regulations
  • Familiarity with various types of lifting equipment, including cranes, hoists, slings, and their safe working loads (SWL).
  • Knowledge of proper rigging methods, including sling angles, load distribution, and the use of various rigging accessories.
  • Understanding the weight, centre of gravity, and stability of loads being lifted
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards pertaining to lifting operations
  • The ability to identify potential hazards during lifting operations and implement appropriate safety measures

EXPERIENCE:

  • Relevant 2 -3 years relevant experience/committed team player and experience
  • Possess work experience in marine industry or similar capacity

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL TRAINING:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Possess Supervise Marine Work for WSH Course (SSSC)
  • Possess WSQ Cert in Supervise Safe Lifting Operations Cours
  • Applicants with no prior experience welcome to apply, traning will be provdided
