Job summary

F R R CONSTRUCTION PTE. LTD. in Singapore seeks a lead commissioning engineer to oversee electrical and automation systems on ships, coordinating start-ups, fault diagnosis, and maintenance in a dynamic maritime environment.

The role covers sea trials, customer liaison, parts procurement, and on-site supervision of shipyard activities, with emphasis on safety, quality, and timely delivery. Strong English skills and a Bachelor’s in Electrical and Automation Engineering with 6+ years’ experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical and Automation Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years hands-on experience in electrical and ELV systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical, field instrumentation, marine automation, pumps and compressors, and ship main and auxiliary engines.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement commissioning plans to ensure successful machinery start-up on ships.
• Supervise shipyard commissioning activities to guarantee smooth operation of complex marine systems.
• Interpret and apply information from various ship drawings to support commissioning and maintenance tasks.
• Participate actively in sea trials to validate system performance and functionality.
• Manage the customer support framework to address client needs and maintain satisfaction.
• Perform remote fault diagnosis and coordinate repairs and maintenance for marine equipment including Exhaust Scrubbers, Gas Handling Systems, Fuel Systems, Nitrogen Generator Plants, and other marine systems.
• Identify and procure necessary spare parts, ensuring timely delivery to shipyards worldwide.
• Act as the primary liaison among shipyards, ship owners, and internal teams during on-site operations.
• Obtain performance acceptance letters from customers following successful delivery and repair activities.
• Organize travel plans and schedules to support maintenance and repair operations efficiently.
• Prepare detailed site status reports and contribute to the continuous improvement of operating and maintenance manuals.
