A leading university in Singapore is establishing an Emerging Technology Unit and seeks a strategic leader to drive the development of actionable roadmaps and interdisciplinary initiatives in high-impact technology domains. Key Responsibilities
Drive strategic foresight and long-term planning in emerging technologies with a time horizon of 10 years (e.g. AI, Quantum Technology, Artificial General Intelligence, Sustainable Energy, Autonomous Systems and Robotics, Future Mobility, Future Electronics, etc).
Develop applied technologyroadmapsthat align SIT’s education and research with Singapore’s future economic, technological, and societal needs.
Shape and coordinateinterdisciplinary initiativesthat link academic clusters, applied research programs, and future-ready education.
Engage and collaborate with government agencies, research institutions, industry players and startups, to identify, validate and possibly co-create emerging technology visions and partnership opportunities.
Contribute thought leadership, insight reports, and internal strategy documents that inform policy, funding, and strategic direction.
Establish the operating frameworks, structures, performance metrics and execution of the newEmerging Technology Unit.
Participate in relevant global tech think-tanks, conferences, and advisory platforms to represent SIT and draw global insights into local contexts.
Job Requirements
PhDin a relevant science or engineering field, withstrong technical expertisein at least one emerging tech domain (e.g. AI, Quantum, Sustainable Energy, Future Mobility, Robotics, etc).
Experience or exposureto industry R&D, tech ventures/startups, or public sector tech master-planning are highly valued.
Provensystems and critical thinking skillswith strong analytical and strategic planning capabilities.
Deeppassion for emerging technologiesand a strong desire to contribute to societal and economic transformation through applied research and education.
Excellent writingand communication skills; able to synthesize complex ideas and engage diverse stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal andstakeholder engagementskills across academia, industry, and government—locally and internationally.
