Job summary

HP is seeking an R&D Software (Embedded) Engineer in Singapore to design and enhance firmware for enterprise class printing products. You will work on firmware and driver level code, run tests, log and debug issues, and collaborate with global partners.

Mentoring junior staff and guiding project progress are part of the role. The candidate should have a degree in CS/IS/EE, 4–6 years of experience, strong analytical skills, and solid knowledge of firmware/hardware principles and tools such as

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Typically, 4-6 years’ experience.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of firmware and hardware design principles.
• Expertise in firmware development languages such as C/C++ and Assembly
• Understanding of basic testing, coding, and debugging procedures.
• Understanding of firmware development tools and infrastructure, including source control (GIT, Subversion, etc.), Application lifecycle management (Jira, TFS, etc.) and code integration in an enterprise development environment.
• Prior experience on printer firmware development will be an added advantage

Responsibilities

• Codes and programs enhancements, updates, and changes for portions and subsystems of firmware, including application and driver level code.
• Executes established test plans and protocols for assigned portions of code; identifies, logs, and debugs assigned issues.
• Develops understanding of and relationship with local and worldwide development partners on firmware design and development.
• Participates as a member of project team of firmware engineers to develop innovative, reliable, cost effective and high-quality solutions enterprise class printing products.
• Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding firmware design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.
