Job summary

KOMAX SINGAPORE PTE LTD is seeking an Electronics Hardware Engineer to design PCBs and schematics, and to support products from concept to production. You will build prototypes, debug board/system issues, and contribute to EMC and safety compliance work.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and at least 3 years in hardware design. Collaboration with mechanical, firmware, and production teams is essential for manufacturability and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronic engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in electronic hardware design and development.
• Strong knowledge of components, circuit fundamentals, and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics.
• Experience in hardware design, PCB layout design, and schematic capture using standard EDA tools.
• Familiar with SPI, I2C, RS232, USB, and Ethernet.
• Hands-on hardware board bring-up, evaluation, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Design and layout printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic schematics using standard EDA tools.

• Build and test functional prototypes; debug hardware issues at board and system level.
• Support risk assessments and EMC/safety compliance testing with teams.
• Develop test jigs and quality-inspection equipment for QA.
• Prepare and maintain design documentation including schematics, BOMs, test reports.
• Collaborate with mechanical, firmware/software, and production teams to ensure manufacturability.
• Liaise with suppliers on sourcing, cost, and quality.
• Provide technical support to production and troubleshoot field issues.
• Support, maintain, and sustain legacy product lines through End-of-life lifecycle.

• Design and layout printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic schematics using standard EDA tools, applying good practice for signal integrity, noise immunity, and manufacturability in equipment.
• Support product design from concept through prototyping, pilot build, and mass production, including component selection with attention to long-termavailability and industrial-grade quality.
• Build and test functional prototypes; debug hardware issues at board and system level and validate designs against functional and performance requirements.
• Support risk assessments and EMC/safety compliance testing (e.g., CE, UL) together with teams.
• Develop test jigs and quality‑inspection equipment to support production quality assurance.
• Prepare and maintain design documentation, including schematics, BOMs, test reports, and engineering change notices.
• Collaborate with mechanical, firmware/software, and production teams to ensure integrated, manufacturable designs.
• Liaise with suppliers on component sourcing, cost, and quality matters.
• Provide technical support to production and help troubleshoot field issues as needed.
• Support, maintain, and sustain legacy product lines through their End-of-life lifecycle.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.

Work experience

• Min3 years of experience in electronic hardware design and development.

Required Expertise

• Core Engineering: Strong knowledge of electronic components, circuit fundamentals, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
• Hardware & PCB Design: Experience in hardware design, PCB layout design, and schematic capture using standard EDA tools.
• Systems Architecture: Working knowledge of microcontroller and microprocessor systems, alongside analogue and digital mixed‑signal circuit design.
• Communication Protocols: Familiar with key communication interfaces such as SPI, I2C, RS232, USB, and Ethernet.
• Board Evaluation & Validation: Ability to perform hands‑on hardware board bring‑up, comprehensive evaluation, and technical troubleshooting to validate prototype performance against design specifications.

Good to Have

• Design Software: Proficiency in Altium Designer, complemented by experience with electrical schematic and wiring diagram tools like AutoCAD Electrical.
• Motion & Sensing Tech: Exposure to electromechanical motion control (DC, stepper, and servo systems), and sensor’s signal conditioning technologies.
• AI‑Assisted Engineering: Proficiency in leveraging AI‑assisted tools to accelerate and optimize design workflows, including schematic/PCB design and circuit simulation.
• EMC & Compliance: Experience with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, compliance standards, and hands‑on troubleshooting to resolve emission and immunity issues.
• Industrial Application: Hands‑on experience working directly with industrial equipment and hardware environments.
