Job description

Role Overview

Liquidnet is seeking an experienced Electronic Sales and Execution Trader to join the Singapore Trading desk and expand the growing Liquidnet Execution and Quantitative Services (EQS) offering in Asia‑Pac. The trader will have strong relationships within the Singapore institutional trading community and be familiar with Asia equity markets and algorithm/ DMA usage across the region as well as have the ability to sell consultatively to clients. As one of Asia’s foremost liquidity providers, this role requires that the candidate understands the ‘dark’ landscape in Asia, and how Liquidnet can interact in the algo space. We are looking for an individual that understands the concept of ‘Execution Consulting’; e.g. the ability to interpret TCA results and subsequently recommend changes in trading style; an ability to dynamically adjust and advise clients on changing market conditions and what strategy to use, and a strong understanding of benchmark and opportunistic algorithms. We will also require a good understanding of market structure and regulation.

Role Responsibilities

• Take receipt of orders, electronically and manually, trading single stock and portfolios in Liquidnet’s pool and algos via the InfoReach platform.
• Provide clients with pro‑active, suitably crafted and valuable trading colour and advice based on an understanding of the client's needs, the Asian markets and the firm's algorithmic trading platform.
• Meet with trading desk clients and prospects to market and sell the product and build relationships.
• Leverage experience and relationships to increase onboarding effort for new clients and brokers.
• Develop an understanding of client trading needs across Algorithms, High Touch and PT and ensure the firm is aligned to deliver these Execution consulting for clients on which strategies and tactics they should employ before and during trading; understand market structure and regulation in Asia.
• Provide post trade strategy advice on how to optimally utilize Liquidnet’s products to pursue best execution.
• Identify market trends and trading opportunities by collaborating with the APAC EQS team to formulate and implement tactical and long‑term strategic initiatives.
• Liaise with the internal product team to improve and elevate Liquidnet's algo product suite to incorporate client requirements and reflect regional market structure differences.
• Partner with Business Development and Trading Coverage to understand, strengthen and improve client workflow integrations and improve interaction with the Liquidnet platform as it relates to the EQS product suite.
• Build effective relationships with business heads, peer groups and support teams globally.
• Use Salesforce tools – maintain and update the database with client updates and opportunities.
• Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information, comparing pricing, monitoring and analysing new products and advise internally on how to make Liquidnet’s offering best in class.

Experience / Competences

• Essential: Exposure in successfully trading for institutional equity clients.
• Experience with pre‑and post‑trade analytics.
• Superior communication skills, self‑motivated and responsible.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Good understanding of TCA with ability to interpret results and translate into recommendations that help clients improve execution quality.
• Good understanding of market structure and regulation.
• Strong understanding of algorithms.
• Ability to trade Asian equities from day one (AU, JP, HK, ASEAN, SP + others).
• Desired: Substantial experience as an Algorithmic or Sales Trader with an execution background.
• Strong relationships within the Singapore Buyside and Sellside Trading community.
• Fluency in any Asian language.
• Programming skills.
