Job summary

Dieselmech Asia Pte. Ltd. seeks a skilled Marine Electrical Engineer to perform onboard electrical maintenance and support for vessel systems. You will work with the service team to ensure power distribution, backup power, and safety systems operate reliably on both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines.

The role requires hands-on offshore experience, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to read electrical/pneumatic drawings. Travel and irregular hours are expected as ships require service.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Technical Cert.
• Preferably 5 years in Marine Electrical Industry.
• Hands on experience onboard sea-going vessels as ETO is a plus.
• Good knowledge of electrical power distribution, maintenance and hands-on skills.
• Proficient in troubleshooting and fault diagnosis in electrical, instrumentation, automation, control, and HVAC systems.
• Able to read Electrical and Pneumatic engineering drawings.
• Familiar with regulatory shipping environment.
• Good communication; fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Able to travel and work irregular hours as vessel requires.

Responsibilities

• Performs activities related to electrical works and maintenance onboard vessels.
• Maintains systems/power generation/backup power, fire detection, and safety systems for 2-stroke or 4-stroke engines.
• Guides onboard service engineers on tasks requiring electrical competency to operate and maintain systems.
• Carries out termination works on vessels and troubleshooting of generator safety and related systems.
• Advises customers/Supt on shore assistance or spare procurement when defects cannot be resolved onboard.
• Provides on-board attendance in coordination with the Service Manager.
• Delivers work done reports to service managers.
• Experience in maintaining marine alternators is a plus.
• Conducts annual calibration of Cargo tanks sensors and gauges.

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Performs activities related to the electrical works and maintenance needed onboard vessels
• Systems / power generation / backup power source / fire detection system and safety system for 2 stroke or 4 stroke engines
• Assist to guide onboard service engineers on the task which require electrical engineers' competencies so as to operate and maintain electrical/electronic/electro-hydraulic/electro-pneumatic/automation systems efficiently.
• Termination works on vessel / Trouble shooting of 4 stroke generator safety system / Electrical governors would be value added
• Advise customers / Supt, the need of shore assistance or need to procure spares in case defects of equipment failures which cannot be resolved thru onboard attendance.
• Carry out on board attendance in liaison with the Service manager
• Provide work done report and submit to service managers
• Experience in carrying out maintenance marine alternators is a plus
• Carry out annual calibration of Cargo tanks Temperature and Pressure sensors, manifold pressure gauges of fleet vessels
• Identify areas for improvements and to have good PR in dealing with customers in SG or Overseas regardless of location

Requirements:

• Preferably 5 years of relevant work experience in Marine Electrical Industry.
• Hands on experience working onboard sea going vessels as ETO (Electrical-Technical Officers) would be value added
• Possess good knowledge of electrical power distribution, maintenance and practical hands-on skills
• Proficient in troubleshooting & fault diagnosis skills related to electrical, instrumentation, automation & control and including air conditioning and ventilation system
• Able to read and understand Engineering Drawings (Electrical and pneumatic)
• Familiar with regulatory and legislative shipping industry environment
• A team player and collaborate well with office technical team as well as shipboard team
• Able to communicate well and Fluency in English in both written and spoken
• Able to travel and working irregular hours as and when the vessel requires services
