Job summary

A leading power generation company located in Singapore is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the Asset Management Department. The successful candidate will manage high-voltage systems within a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant, ensuring reliability and efficiency. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 8 years of experience in power generation, particularly in CCGT. Strong project management and technical skills are essential.

Job description

Supporting the Asset Management Department. This position will support the operation, maintenance, and optimisation of electrical systems within a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Plant. This position requires hands-on experience with high-voltage systems, generator protection, auxiliary systems, and plant automation, ensuring electrical reliability, safety and efficiency across all plant operations.

  • Serve as the technical authority for Electrical assets in the plant.

  • Review and recommend a comprehensive maintenance strategy based on criticality assessments, integrating Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), Preventive Maintenance (PM), and Predictive Maintenance (PdM).

  • Manage the entire lifecycle of the plant's electrical assets, from acquisition to decommissioning.

  • Develop strategies for effective utilisation, performance optimisation and timely upgrades or replacements.

  • Design, review, and maintain electrical systems including gas and steam turbine generators, transformers, switch gears, MCCs, and auxiliary systems.

  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of electrical faults and failures.

  • Support planned and unplanned outages, including scope development, contractor coordination, and testing.

  • Develop Outage QC checklist and hold points to ensure critical stages of the outage are monitored.

  • Ensure compliance with grid codes, electrical safety standards, and environmental regulations.

  • Develop and maintain single-line diagrams, schematics, and electrical documentation.

  • Monitor and analyse electrical performance data to optimise plant efficiency and reliability.

  • Interface with SCADA, DCS, and PLC systems for control and monitoring of electrical assets.

  • Lead electrical upgrade projects, including feasibility studies and CAPEX planning.

  • Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for technical support and spare parts management.

  • Conduct arc flash studies, relay coordination, and protection system reviews.

  • Monitor and analyse equipment performance data to identify reliability risks and improvement opportunities.

  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for both engineering functions and asset performance.

  • Lead in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for complex plant issues.

  • Collaborate with OEMs and vendors for technical support and upgrades.

  • Oversee O&M budget and develop/ manage budgets for engineering improvement projects and asset management initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

  • At least 8 years of experience in Power Generation, preferably in CCGT.

  • Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE, and NEC standards.

  • Experience with high-voltage equipment, generator protection, and electrical distribution systems.

  • Proficient in electrical design and analysis tools (e.g. ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD Electrical).

  • Familiar with Condition Monitoring, Predictive Maintenance, and Digital Twin Technologies.

  • Excellent communication and project management skills.

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage contractors during outages.

  • Experience in 400KV/230KV/66KV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS).

  • Knowledge of grid interconnection requirements and load dispatch protocols.

  • Certification in Electrical Safety Awareness, Lockout/ Tagout (LOTO) and High Voltage Switching.

  • Have a safety mindset and display good workplace safety behaviour.

  • Be actively involved in emergency responses whenever called upon.
