Job overview:

As the Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer, this position is responsible for:

  • Maintaining accurate and reliable instrumentation and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) electrical equipment, safe and reliable power distribution systems, troubleshooting problems, maintaining and complying with laws and regulations, developing team personnel, identifying and implementing technical improvement programs to meet safety and reliability goals.

Main duty:

  • Develop preventive maintenance plans for instrumentation, electrical equipment and perform preventive maintenance work. Monitor the operating status of the process and utilities instruments and electrical equipment, predict and solve potential problems in advance.
  • Accountable for the day-to-day management of site-wide process and utilities instrumentation and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) electrical equipment. Responsible for coordination with both internal and external stakeholders, deploy instrumentation personnel to complete calibration and maintenance within the specified time to ensure safety, quality, and ensure the reliability of instrument operation.
  • Collecting, sorting, summarizing and filing instrumentation and electrical equipment as-built drawings and data, as well as porting-over information from datasheets to Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) such as Maximo.
  • Responsible for managing emergency calibration of instrumentation, electrical system and ensuring timely calibration to prevent overdue activities.
  • Responsible for investigation of deviations related to instrument failure or defect. Participate/lead in E&I related deviation investigation and instrumentation failure analysis (RCA), thereafter follow through with completion of CAPA actions and effectiveness check to prevent the recurrence of the problem.
  • Establish correct ordering quantity and inventory optimization plan for spare parts required to support Process, Utilities and Site Wide instrument and electrical component.
  • Participate in the introduction, evaluation, selection and ordering of new instrumentation and electrical equipment, and support the installation, commissioning and verification of new projects.
  • Manage, analyze and control instrumentation and electrical maintenance costs.
  • Responsible for reviewing, registering and archiving maintenance documents to ensure timeliness, accuracy and completeness of records and updating GMP related drawings, managing related technical documents and maintenance records, and updating each year, and meeting the requirements of customer quality audits and HSA, FDA and EU audits.
  • Organize the training of instrument and electrical equipment maintenance personnel and formulate operation procedures and maintenance procedures for instrument and equipment.
  • Responsible for on-site 5S improvement and EHS requirements.
  • Manage, nurture and guide subordinate employees, and conduct effective assessments.
  • Build a high-efficiency team and bring out the initiative, enthusiasm and creativity of each team member.
  • Effective inter-departmental communication and collaboration.
  • Cultivate and train subordinate employees to improve work skills and work efficiency.
  • During the project phase, the individual is expected to be actively involved in performing multiple roles to support the overall success of the greenfield project startup, extending his/her knowledge to carryout non-E&I scope.
  • The candidate must front and collaborate with multiple discipline leads (Archi, Civil & Structure, MEP, Fire Protection System, Access Control, etc.) from internal SMEs, design firm and general installation contractors.
  • Other work arranged by the head of Function.

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with 2-5 years of relevant work experience in large pharmaceutical, petrol chemical or semiconductor cleanroom environment, and more than 2 years of relevant discipline experience with those with recognized Polytechnic Electrical and Electronic Engineering Diplomas.
  • Ideally, individual with greenfield startup experiences will be an advantage for this role.
  • Proficiency in instrumentation, electrical maintenance and good knowledge in automation, with strong professional knowledge and rich on-site maintenance and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Be proficient in operating Office software and have the ability to review construction technical plans, technical drawings in CAD(.dwg), 3D model review in Navisworks/Revit for clash conflict resolution and equipment technical negotiation.
  • Have prior experience in general facilities maintenance or engineering construction, have good organizational management, communication and coordination skills, and have a strong team spirit.
  • Good problem-solving skills and be able to guide and supervise the work of subordinates. Responsible for assignment, assessment and motivation of subordinate employees
  • Be able to lead by example and have a strong sense of responsibility and can withstand strong work pressure with given timeline
  • Have the ability to read and write in English and be able to communicate in English fluently. Proficiency in Mandarin will have an added advantage when communicating and collaborating with Subject Matter Expert (SME) from our sister plants.
