ARTC is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to join the Autonomous Systems & Robotics (ASR) group to advance the development of innovative, intelligent, and reconfigurable robotic systems for industry adoption.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Development Engineer, you will develop systems and solutions within a team, lead small projects, and collaborate with both senior and junior engineers and scientists at A*STAR on R&D projects focused on robotics and automation systems, serving manufacturing and logistics sectors in Singapore.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Discuss with stakeholders to understand their problem statements, requirements, and expectations.
2. Study new technologies and tools, evaluate their advantages and disadvantages, and contribute to smart robotic and automation projects.
3. Validate new concepts using virtual models, simulations, and prototypes.
4. Design and develop physical and software modules, programs, and system components.
5. Test and validate systems and solutions developed by team members.
6. Develop technical proposals to address industry challenges in automation and robotics.
7. Lead development projects for industrial robotics and automation systems.
8. Collaborate with System Integrators and vendors to deploy automation systems in operational environments.
9. Maintain technical documentation and deliver presentations on project work.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering.
2. Minimum of 7 years' experience in robotics and automation system development and deployment.
3. Strong understanding of factory automation systems (IT/OT).
4. Programming experience in Python, C/C++, etc.
5. Experience in programming industrial robots (e.g., ABB RAPID, URScript, KRL).
6. Familiarity with 3D simulation tools (e.g., Visual Components, Siemens Process Simulation) or willingness to learn.
7. Experience in drafting system proposals, technical scoping, and cost estimation.
8. Knowledge of automation system concepts and solutions.
9. Hands-on experience with industrial robots, cobots, PLCs, etc.
10. Ability to work independently on projects.
11. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
12. Knowledge of ROS/ROS 2, UI/UX development, AI/ML tools is a plus.
13. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
14. Self-motivated with a sense of ownership and leadership ability.
15. Good time management skills.
16. Willingness to learn new tools and adapt to changes.
