Job Description for Database Administrator

About the job:

1. Implement and maintain on-premises and Cloud databases such as Microsoft SQL Server.
2. Proactively manage and maintain database security standards and governance.
3. Perform database operations tasks such as monitoring database performance and troubleshooting issues with production applications.
4. Hands-on experience with configuration and maintenance of SharePoint databases.
5. Create and execute reliable database backup and restore strategies.
6. Collaborate with teams such as system administrators and developers.
7. Identify and resolve bottlenecks and deadlock issues.
8. Conduct database performance testing and evaluation to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity.
9. Ensure databases adhere to SLAs and operational KPIs are met.
10. Document database Standard Operating Procedures.

About You:

1. Experience working in hybrid environments such as AWS/On-premises, especially On-Premises.
2. Experience with databases such as Microsoft SQL Server.
3. Experience with database replication tools such as Microsoft SQL Server AlwaysOn.
4. Experience with installation and configuration of Microsoft SQL Server.
5. Experience creating and executing database backup and restore strategies.
6. Knowledge of database security standards and governance.
7. Experience with database performance tuning to resolve bottlenecks and deadlocks.
8. Experience with database operations to meet SLAs and KPIs.

Desired Background:

1. Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
2. Minimum 3 years in a database administrator or engineer role.
3. Self-motivated with excellent communication skills.
4. Experience in public sector projects is advantageous.
