An established industry player in commodity trading is seeking a dynamic professional to manage trade execution and contractual transactions. This role involves overseeing the workflow from the trading desk, handling logistics for global fertilizer shipments, and ensuring compliance with incoterms and contractual obligations. Responsibilities:
Taking ownership of the workflow for a trade once completed by the Trading desk.
Handling of contractual transactions for global fertilizers shipments via sea freight/ocean going vessels, barges and by inland train/truck shipments.
Handling various incoterms.
Verification and execution of purchase and sales contracts.
Negotiation of service contracts with surveyors' companies, including arranging cargo supervision at load - and discharge ports as well as product analysis.
Daily contact with internal and external parties:
o Internal: Trading desk; Field offices; Treasury; Finance; Legal
o External: Suppliers/Customers; Freight brokers; Surveyors; Port agents
Organization of the internal and external document flow for physical purchases and sales of fertilizers, such as issuing instructions for shipping documents, product registration, etc.
Vessel nomination with Chartering support as well as subsequent liaison with freight brokers to facilitate smooth loading and discharging operations and to ensure all contractual obligations are met, while coordinating the same with all parties involved (suppliers, receivers, counterparties).
Knowledge of laytime calculation at load port/disport; follow up freight invoice bookings/payments.
Arranging freight and cargo insurance.
Handling of financial transactions:
o Review, approval and payment/issuance of purchase and sales invoices.
o Arranging Letter of Credit opening in coordination with Treasury, preparation and issuance of compliant documents under the LC.
o Issuance of Bills of Exchange, monitoring credit exposure and following up on funds
o received, monitoring/updating the risk list.
o Monitoring of receivables and follow-up, issuance of credit/debit notes, claim/premium calculation.
Entering accurate contract information and data into the ERP system, pre-calculation of relating costs, managing allocations.
Handling of commercial claims jointly with the responsible traders, assisting traders during negotiations with counterparties, editing and issuing amendments to commercial contracts.
Support ad-hoc queries and projects within the company.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Economics, International Relations, or a closely related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in commodity trade execution in another trading company.
Sound experience of letter of credits, commercial contracts, cargo documentation, bills of lading, charter party terms, laytime calculation and customs formalities, Incoterms, contracts,
Basic understanding of accounting principles (invoices, costs distribution).
Team-player, dynamic, flexible, hardworking, and eager to go the extra mile.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Self-motivated with ability to manage time effectively.
Very proactive with strong ability to face pressure and respect deadlines.
High levels of integrity & professional standards.
IT savvy and excellent command of MS Office suite: Excel, Word, Outlook and MS Teams.
Fluent in English, both written & spoken, further languages are an advantage.
