Job summary

A leading financial institution in Singapore is seeking a senior Credit Risk Manager to evaluate financial statements, approve credit applications, and develop credit policies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in credit risk, particularly in structured trade and commodity finance, and will be fluent in English and Mandarin.

Job description

Responsibilities:

• Review financial statements, including balance sheets, profit/loss statements, and cash flow statements, to evaluate the financial standing of prospective and existing borrowers.

• Assess and approve credit applications and annual credit reviews, including assigning credit ratings for each borrower.

• Provide independent credit assessments and recommendations, ensuring compliance with the branch’s credit policies and procedures.

• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to align business needs with risk appetite.

• Offer advisory support and industry insights on sectors such as Shipping, REITs, Trade, Logistics, and Transportation.

• Conduct in-depth industry research and develop branch-specific credit policies.

• Monitor corporate loan portfolios to ensure compliance with the bank’s overall credit risk strategies.

• Review and validate credit decision-making processes, identify areas for improvement, and refine credit models.

• Develop or update branch credit policies and procedures in line with Head Office policies, internal/external audit requirements, and regulatory mandates.

• Address issues raised by auditors and MAS related to credit matters.

• Undertake ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned by the Deputy Head of Department.

Requirements:

• A recognized degree, CFA charter holder preferred.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in credit risk within banking or a credit rating agency.

• Strong expertise in structured trade and commodity finance, project finance (including aircraft/shipping leasing, transportation, and logistics).

• Well-versed in financial regulations across Singapore and the ASEAN region.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Fluency in English and Mandarin to liaise with Mandarin-speaking colleagues from Head Office.

• Ability to work independently and perform under pressure.
