Summary
The Maintenance Engineer or Senior Engineer is responsible for assisting the maintenance organization in developing and executing the 3-Year Maintenance Plan (3YMP). This involves translating the plan into a Preventive Maintenance (PM) program, as well as managing Sustaining, Service, and Growth Capital Expenditure (Capex) projects to ensure that the terminal remains in optimal condition.
Key Responsibilities
3-Year Maintenance Plan
Responsible for developing a 3-year maintenance plan
Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Planner, and Maintenance Supervisor to gather their input.
Preventive Maintenance Program
Responsible for developing the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program
Identify whether an asset requires preventive maintenance based on risk assessments, asset criticality reviews, regulatory and statutory requirements, company standards, maintenance policies, and analysis of the maintenance history.
Determine and adjust the required preventive maintenance for an asset, specifying the type of preventive maintenance that must be performed regularly. Adjustments may be based on manufacturers’ instructions, legislative requirements, company standards, or warranty status.
Establish the frequency at which preventive maintenance work orders must be executed.
Specify the default activities, standard procedures, and required tools needed for the preventive maintenance work orders, consulting with the Planner for input on the scope of work and default activities.
Add a cost estimate to the PM schedule.
Identify the information required in inspection reports.
Manage terminal asset lifecycle management.
Sustaining and Service CapEx
Responsible for planning and executing sustaining and service capital expenditures (CapEx)
Identify the CapEx required based on the business or sustainability needs of the terminal.
Develop the scope of work and cost estimates.
Perform tenders for CapEx projects.
Execute CapEx projects in line with applicable company standards, such as the Management of Change (MOC) and company project management guidelines.
Support asset data management.
Continuous Improvement
Responsible for maintenance optimization and continuous improvement:
Conduct inspections to evaluate the quality of engineering work and the integrity of existing installations or structures, making recommendations for remedial work to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
Analyze inspection reports and propose recommendations and action items through "Work Out Of Inspection.
Propose improvements and ideas for opportunities to achieve increased efficiency and productivity.
Perform maintenance analysis and conduct simple quality sampling and inspection of assets or processes.
Technical Problem Solving
Responsible for troubleshooting technical problems, equipment, and system failures:
Support and guide technicians with more complex issues.
Determine the root causes of equipment and system failures and recommend corrective measures.
Ad-Hoc Activities
Responsible for supporting ad-hoc activities:
Coordinate activities of subcontractors and suppliers, acting as the primary point of contact while working within an established contract management plan.
Facilitate internal and external audits, including authority audits and customer audits.
Lead or support corporate initiatives or pilot rollouts.
Provide training for Maintenance and Operations technicians.
Qualifications:
Diploma/Degree in Engineering
3-5 years of experience in a related field.
Exposure & experience in industrial standard (API, ASME and equivalent)
Familiarity with API 653 and/or 570 is an advantage
Skills and Competencies
