Business Function
Group Technology and Operations (T&O) enables and empowers the bank with an efficient, nimble, and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability, and innovation. In Group T&O, we manage the majority of the Bank's operational processes and aim to delight our business partners through our multiple banking delivery channels.
Responsibilities
- End-to-end handling of critical core banking applications production incidents, including incident analysis, recovery, interfacing systems, communication during major incidents, code fixes, and review of production changes before deployment.
- Implement application improvements focusing on performance, operational efficiency, system identification, and remediation, including automation of manual tasks.
- Automate manual activities and system health checks for production teams, ensuring SLIs/SLOs are met.
- Manage production issues from analysis to deployment, following established support processes and providing feedback for improvements.
- Communicate effectively during incidents, including SLA breaches and major outages, and coordinate with stakeholders and vendors for resolution.
- Coordinate recurring issues to ensure long-term resolution through proper incident and problem management, including escalations.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and development teams to analyze root causes of complex issues and outages.
- Maintain strong stakeholder management with a focus on continuous service improvement, delivery, and stability.
- Drive root cause analysis with technology partners and facilitate RCA reviews.
- Work with the Risk team to respond to audit and risk RFIs and manage audit walkthroughs.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree or higher.
- 10-15 years of experience in banking, with at least 5+ years in a lead role managing mission-critical applications.
- Experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), including performance, monitoring, alerting, and maintenance of production environments.
- Proficiency in automating manual tasks within a core banking ecosystem.
- Experience in building and maintaining production monitoring and automation solutions.
- Ability to identify, measure, and report performance trends, SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, and improve system performance.
- Hands-on experience with RDBMS, Unix, cloud platforms, and large banking applications, preferably including mainframe environments.
- Effective communication skills, especially in an international and remote team setting.
- Understanding of BAU support, incident/problem management, escalation processes, and risk management including disaster recovery and compliance.
- Knowledge of CASA, customer master systems, cheque processing, and signature maintenance systems.
- Technical skills in scripting, programming, DBA/SA, and experience with tools like Elasticsearch, Logstash, Grafana/Kibana, and AppDynamics is advantageous.
Technology Requirements
- Experience with core banking platforms, including customer and account systems.
- Proficiency in scripting or programming, DBA/SA skills.
- Experience in change management, configuration management, and quality control.
- Knowledge of Linux, mainframe, cloud platforms (Kubernetes, AWS), databases (Postgres, Redis), programming languages (Java, COBOL, etc.), application servers, middleware, and eventing systems.
