Job Description:

The Lien Centre for Palliative Care (“LCPC”) at Duke-NUS Medical School Singapore aims to be the premier palliative care research and educational centre in the region. Supported by the Lien Foundation and collaborating with the National Cancer Centre Singapore and other Singhealth institutes, LCPC is experiencing significant growth.

LCPC is recruiting faculty members at all levels in health-related Social Science (e.g., Health Psychology, Social Work). We seek scholars focusing on implementation science, especially in decision aids, health communication, and related research areas involving life-limiting illnesses.

Opportunities include working with a multidisciplinary faculty, testing interventions with Singhealth Academic Medical Centre, and expanding collaborations locally and internationally, including Duke University, USA. Clinician scientists may apply for joint appointments within the Department of Palliative Medicine or other relevant departments, balancing research and clinical duties. Teaching roles may also be available.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Generating an independent research agenda through successful grant applications.
  2. Collaborating on existing research projects with LCPC faculty.
  3. Forging collaborations within Singhealth and the broader medical decision-making community in Singapore.
  4. Providing guidance to junior researchers.
  5. Performing related duties incidental to the role.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD or MD in a relevant health-related Social Science.
  • Research experience with plans to pursue external grants.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Self-motivated with leadership skills.
  • Proven record of academic publications.
  • Good time and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with clinicians and healthcare professionals.
