Job Description

The role of the Finance Partner Lead at NUS Dentistry is to deliver financial leadership, strategic financial input, and advisory services, facilitating robust financial planning, analysis, and management that align with and support the objectives of NUS, NUHS and the Faculty. This position entails supervising financial operations, ensuring adherence to compliance standards, developing business opportunities, and steering financial decision-making processes to uphold financial sustainability and boost the Faculty’s operational effectiveness.

Reporting to the Head of Administration, the Finance Lead will be the primary point of contact for all NUS Dentistry Finance related matters and is responsible for the following:

  • Leading a team of Finance Partners in providing effective Finance Business Partnering, insightful financial data, and sound advisory with an aim to ensure financial sustainability in the Faculty.
  • Offering strategic advice on financial policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance and effective resource use.
  • Ensuring the financial processes are well controlled and efficient; and facilitate continuous improvement in financial processes and systems.
  • Leading the planning, development and management of comprehensive budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
  • Leading the development and monitoring of key financial and performance metrics
  • Conducting market analysis and suggest new business opportunities, partnerships and capital investments aligned with the Faculty’s strategic goals to ensure financial sustainability and growth
  • Supervising the preparation and timely submission of periodic financial reports to NUS and NUHS, ensuring compliance with institutional requirements.
  • Actively participating in key committees where necessary.
  • Develop cost analyses and financial models to evaluate the viability of programs and initiatives, supporting decision-making on their financial viability.
  • Directing the year-end financial closing process, ensuring accurate accruals, stock takes, data records and timely submissions.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
  • Experience: About 15 years of relevant working experience with at least 8 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Relevant working experience in Institute of Higher Learning / Education / Government Sector is preferred, and experience in digital transformation or digital application in business finance is an advantage
  • Strong people management skills and track record in developing and leading high-performing teams through change management, and/or new set-up or reorganization.
  • Strong business partnering skills and experience with cross-functional teams, senior management and stakeholders engagement.

Skills:

  • Possess in-depth financial knowledge across financial accounting, planning, budgeting, forecasting and analytics as well as enterprise risk management.
  • Strong competency with up-to-date knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards and practices
  • Knowledge in audit and controls procedures.
  • Possess agile mindset, confidence in managing ambiguity, and excellent financial modelling and data visualizing skill
  • Proficiency in SAP or S4 Hana, MS Office application and data visualization tools.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives and meet deadlines.
