Job description

ISCE2 Scientist Position

ISCE2 is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team focused on developing next-generation green and sustainable technologies for biomanufacturing of fine and specialty chemicals. This role offers the opportunity to work with enzymes and bioengineering to create new enzymes for more efficient manufacturing of complex molecules. The ideal candidate is passionate about science and sustainability, self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, enjoys laboratory work, and possesses excellent communication and teamwork skills.

The responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Designing and conducting experiments to optimize biochemical pathways and/or cellular organisms for chemical production.
  2. Utilizing advanced technologies, including AI/machine learning, to design and engineer enzymes.
  3. Leading independent studies.
  4. Maintaining accurate records, analyzing data, and presenting research findings at conferences, meetings, and to stakeholders.
  5. Supervising and mentoring junior researchers.
  6. Establishing collaborations with internal and external partners to develop or improve technologies.
  7. Devising proposals to secure competitive funding.
  8. Writing and publishing high-impact papers, technical disclosures, and patent applications.
  9. Managing projects and resources to meet deadlines and deliverables.
  10. Representing the institute at industry meetings and events.
  11. Performing other duties as assigned by the manager.
Requirements:
  • PhD in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Strong background in chemical/biological/genomic engineering and/or biotechnology.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Rigorous data analysis, interpretation, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multitask.
