The National Institute of Education (NIE) invites applications for an Education Research Scientist to join SoLEC.

The role focuses on designing and leading interdisciplinary learning analytics research, integrating neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, and education to drive evidence-informed practice.

Qualifications

• PhD in cognitive science, psychology, statistics or data analytics.
• Up to 2 years of post-PhD experience.

Responsabilités

• Design and implement SoLEC’s research programmes in collaboration with colleagues.
• Lead the development of research projects and secure external funding opportunities.
• Publish internationally in peer-reviewed journals and disseminate impactful findings.
• Translate research into practice and policy impact within education systems.
• Manage administrative and programme‑related tasks to ensure smooth operations.
• Contribute to strategic research initiatives of SoLEC, OfR and NIE.
• Participate actively in the wider research and service community of NIE.

Requirements

• PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. Cognitive Science, Psychology, Statistics, Data Analytics or a closely related field)
• Up to 2 years of post-PhD experience
• Ability to lead and collaborate within research teams
• Strong track record in the following are as:
• Publishing in high quality, peer-reviewed journals
• Securing competitive, peer-reviewed research funding
• Conducting independent, innovative research
• Applying appropriate data analytics and research methods to learning and educational data
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (spoken and written English)
