Job description

What the role is:

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) aspires to be a world-class organisation in delivering safety and security for our people. MHA Finance Shared Services Centre (FSSC) aims to increase efficiency and improve customer experience in financial services of the ministry and the Home Team Departments (HTDs). You will be part of the Financial Accounting team and will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely accounting records, managing period opening and closing activities, overseeing system master data and interfaces, and ensuring accurate charging of expenditure.

What you will be working on:
  1. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of accounting records through journal adjustments and journal interfaces.
  2. Ensure timely period-end reconciliation of account balances between financial systems to ensure accurate reporting.
  3. Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of master data in the system.
  4. Ensure consistent and accurate charging of expenditure across Home Team Departments in accordance with charging policies and principles. This includes reviewing expenditure across departments, highlighting inconsistent charging practices, and working with stakeholders to align expenditure charging.
  5. Participate in automation initiatives and process improvement projects (e.g., use of RPA bots or data analytics dashboards) to enhance work efficiency.
What we are looking for:

Requirements

  • Experience: Prior experience in audit or accounting roles, experience with SAP, and working in shared services environments are advantageous.
  • Attributes: Dedicated, meticulous, analytical, independent, tech-savvy, with strong accounting knowledge, good communication skills, and stakeholder engagement abilities.

All new appointees will initially be appointed on a two-year contract. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified within 30 days after the closing date.
