Qualifications

Responsibilities:
  1. Lead a team of draftsmen in Basic design to carry out Hull form and General Arrangement.
  2. Support other in-house departments and external parties by providing specialist technical advice and information.
  3. Prepare and review layout arrangements in accordance with building specifications, rules, and regulations (fire, watertight integrity, accommodation layouts, etc.).
  4. Manage and check technical information from external suppliers of equipment and systems, and coordinate with engineers from other trades within the organization.
  5. Check and approve calculations/drawings and material lists to ensure compliance with contractual technical specifications, installation control documents, Classification, and Statutory Rules/Regulations.
  6. Participate in tests and trials as required.
  7. Liaise with ship owners, surveyors, and other stakeholders.
  8. Ensure timely and proper capture of all design issues raised by owners, Class, and Flag in the Action Item Register for follow-up actions.
  9. Stay updated with Classification Rules and industrial standards relevant to design activities.
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of international design codes, Classification/Statutory Rules, and Regulations.
  • Engineering Design and Project Management skills.
  • Strong Leadership and Interpersonal skills.
  • Expertise in Naval architecture, Structure, Outfitting, and Accommodation design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Aveva Marine, NAPA, Microsoft Office, Rhino 3D, CFD software.
  • High proficiency in 3D modeling using CAD software is advantageous.
Requirements:
  • At least 8-10 years of experience in engineering design within Marine, Offshore, Oil & Gas industries, or Classification Societies.
  • Strong Leadership and Interpersonal skills to manage team members and stakeholders, including vendors and clients.
