Job description

What the role is:

Calling on aspiring Singaporean scholars in economics, history, political science, international relations, sociology, anthropology, and other relevant social sciences subjects – the ISEAS PhD Scholarship is now open for application.

What you will be working on:

ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute invites PhD scholarship applications for the following areas of study:

  • Economics
  • History
  • Political Science
  • International Relations
  • Sociology
  • Anthropology
  • Other relevant social sciences subjects
Terms of Awards:

The scholarship is tenable at reputable universities overseas or in Singapore and includes:

  • Tuition and other compulsory fees
  • Monthly maintenance allowance
  • Conference/Fieldwork allowance
  • Medical insurance
  • Return air passage (if applicable)
  • Preliminary expenses

Successful candidates will serve a five-year bond with ISEAS following the completion of their studies.

What we are looking for:
Eligibility

Candidates should:

  • (a) Be Singapore citizens
  • (b) Have consistently good academic records
  • (c) Be prepared to carry out applied and policy-related research on Southeast Asia
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have already been accepted for admission into reputable universities.
Requirements

Interested applicants must submit:

  • i) a cover letter
  • ii) full CV
  • iii) sample of academic writing
  • iv) three letters of reference
  • v) educational certificates and transcripts
  • vi) a research proposal including a statement on why it is important to ISEAS
  • vii) a passport-sized photograph

Note: All required application documents are to be uploaded in the 'Resume/Cover Letter' section. This is the only available upload section in the application process.

Submission: Please send online applications through the Careers@Gov website and upload all stipulated documents before the closing date. The three referees should email their letters of reference to HR@iseas.edu.sg separately.
