As Associate Vice President, Operations, Governance & Security, you will report to the Chief Data Centre Officer and work closely with various teams and leadership across the Asia Pacific region, making your mark in a number of ways:
- You will work closely with key business teams to drive, structure, and deliver key operational governance initiatives across the APJ region, including oversight of data centre operational governance and controls.
- You will advise on and shape operational assurance solutions throughout AirTrunk, including the initiation and delivery of new buildsites, ensuring compliance from a risk management perspective to enable the rapid expansion of AirTrunk data centre developments across APJ.
- You will be able to hone new skills and expertise in related workstreams as required, including risk management, business continuity, and emergency response, developing an in-depth knowledge of AirTrunk’s operations and providing strategic operational initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversight of data centre operational governance and controls.
- Co-ordinate assurance activities for all operating sites including; external, internal, client, certification and insurer assurance, making best use of resource to address identified or anticipated risk.
- Periodically update the design of the internal operations assurance system and undertake all sites’ assurance, measuring and monitoring adherence to operational process and procedures. Give feedback to sites and senior management on common shortcomings and risk consequence.
- Provide tailored adhoc training and competency development support to operations in core policies, processes and any area of commonly identified shortfalls, from assurance activity.
- Oversea a team maintaining Data Centre government compliances and responding to changes in the regulatory landscape across APJ for Critical Infrastructure providers.
- Oversea and lead a team providing internal consultative advice on Security systems during design and construction and Security Operations to local site teams, post construction.
- Undertake minor business change projects to address any cross-portfolio assurance findings.
- Monitor new build sites, new delivered data hall capacities and established capacities, identifying and managing data centre specific risks and developing mitigation plans.
- Identify any non-conformance to the Board’s risk appetite statement and provide an adequate risk management plan.
- Liaise with the Enterprise Risk team to ensure emerging risks transitioning from design or build into Operations are documented.
- Monitor and support site teams in the delivery of their Business Continuity, Emergency response and any other required resiliency planning. Act as central point of contact for Enterprise Risk and Resilience team, on all data centre resiliency matters.
- As the Operations ‘Document Control Representative’ advise on application of the Corporate and Operations Document Control Standards, within operations.
- Monitor nominated document owners and managers, in timely review and update of their business unit relevant documentation and keep the Governance owned frameworks and policies up to date for review in consultation with stakeholders.
- Responsibility in partnering with the Executive leadership team and developing regional/global risk, governance and security strategies for operations.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in data centres. A background in mechanical, electrical engineering or technology is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of data centre best practices, operational excellence, risk management, and governance.
- Knowledge of external standards (ISO, SOC2, PCI) as well government standards relating to data centres.
- Ability to apply independent judgement and maintain good relations during assurance audits.
- A degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or a related trade.
- Willingness to travel within the APAC region for approximately 1-2 weeks per quarter.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to create and direct cross-functional group forums for managing risks.
- Experience in building out functions and leading teams.
- Experience in communicating and presenting to a senior leadership / board level forum.
