Senior Data Engineer (Team Lead)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Team Lead with at least 5 years of Data Engineering experience in software development to join a leading Maritime company. The Senior Data Team Lead plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the organization’s data strategy using Microsoft Azure technologies. This individual will oversee the development and maintenance of modern data systems, champion best practices in data governance, and empower the business through actionable insights. The ideal candidate will bring technical depth, leadership acumen, and a passion for harnessing data to drive strategic outcomes.

Responsibilities:

· Architect and implement scalable data solutions on Microsoft Azure to support evolving
business needs.

· Guide and mentor a team of data professionals including data engineers and BI analysts.

· Engage closely with business stakeholders to translate data needs into impactful technical solutions.

· Ensure alignment of data architecture with business goals and performance expectations.

· Enhance the performance, security, and reliability of data pipelines and storage systems.

· Establish and maintain data governance standards and compliance protocols.

· Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in data infrastructure.

· Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation within the data team.

· Experience: 5+ years of Data Engineering or a related discipline.

· Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Azure data services and cloud ecosystems.

· Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Azure SQL/SQL MI, MS SQL

· Advanced SQL and Python proficiency

· ETL development and data pipeline optimization

· Data architecture and warehousing principles

· Familiarity with Big Data tools (e.g., Apache Spark, document databases)

· Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI)

· AI and machine learning experience (desirable)

· Strong understanding of data governance and security

· Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing technical teams

· Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
