Job Description

SIT, as a University of Applied Learning, collaborates closely with industry partners in research pursuits. Our research staff will have opportunities to develop applied research skills relevant to industry demands while working on projects at SIT.

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver an industry-funded innovation research project by the Building Construction Authority, titled: Mixed-mode Ventilation for Office Buildings in the Tropics, in collaboration with the Department of Building, NUS.

The project aims to develop a real-time, occupant-centric sensing and control strategy to optimize building performance for mixed-mode ventilation in tropical climates.

You will be part of Work-Package 1, conducting laboratory experiments on thermal comfort and testing different scenarios of implementing mixed-ventilation in buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in and manage the research project alongside the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI, and research team to ensure all deliverables are met.
  • Assist in supervising final year projects or capstone projects under the guidance of the Project PI.
  • Conduct computational simulations and experimental studies within the project's scope and timeframe to meet objectives.
  • Support the PI in drafting reports, conference papers, and journal articles based on project outcomes.
  • Prepare and share fortnightly reports on computational results with the program director and PI.
  • Perform Risk Assessments and ensure compliance with Work, Safety, and Health regulations.
  • Coordinate procurement activities and liaise with vendors and suppliers.
  • Operate and maintain equipment independently and within a team setting.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services; Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in building HVAC systems and control.
  • Hands-on experience in experimental studies, especially thermal comfort studies, is highly advantageous.
  • Experience in retrofitting building projects, including project management and working with contractors and suppliers, particularly in HVAC systems.
  • Ability to work independently with strong data analysis, communication, and interpersonal skills.
