Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. Develop high-quality scripts for Chinese drama, crafting compelling stories with strong structure, character development, and engaging narratives that align with the organization's creative vision and market demands.

  2. Conduct research for story development by identifying, assessing, and selecting suitable sources; perform primary and secondary research to support story angles.

  3. Create drafts and refine scripts to support story development, guided by supervisors such as the Head Writer or Story Planner.

  4. Collaborate with the drama team, including writers, executive producers, directors, and production staff, to deliver storylines, beats, synopses, and scripts on schedule, ensuring alignment with production needs and creative direction.

  5. Support brainstorming and pitching of concepts by developing original ideas, preparing internal and external pitch materials, and presenting to management.

  6. Ensure scripts are accurate and legally compliant by checking for potential legal, compliance, and copyright issues, and assist in preparing documents for legal clearance.

  7. Assist in talent selection by participating in auditions for actors and other participants as needed.

  8. Stay updated on industry trends and audience preferences through research to create content that resonates with the target market.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in any field with at least 3-4 years of relevant experience. Diploma or A-Level holders with strong experience may also be considered.

  • Strong interest in entertainment, particularly Chinese drama, with a good understanding of storytelling and audience engagement.

  • Proficient in Chinese language, both written and spoken.

  • Computer literacy is required.

  • Skilled in writing engaging scripts with strong research abilities.

  • Excellent communication skills, a team player, and highly passionate about storytelling in the entertainment industry.
