Job description

Overall Job Purpose:

This candidate will be part of a business development team responsible for the identification and attraction of world-class, iconic third-party events to Sentosa. These events should be an incremental step-up from the bulk of the baseline programming on Sentosa, which are smaller in scale and stature.

The candidate will be responsible to identify, seek out and anchor these events on the island. This entails research, analysis, outreach and cultivation of prospective partners, IP owners, and event organisers; both locally and globally. The candidate should also be familiar in navigating the government space, seeking additional funding and collaborations with agencies ranging from Singapore Tourism Board to National Arts Council.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

You will be responsible for upstream planning and analysis of Sentosa’s programming strategy, which contributes to events lineup and revenue generation on/for the island.

Roles will include:

  • Lead research and analysis of the event space via competitive scanning and hunting, with the aim to identify key events that can be brought to Sentosa. The research should also lead to the identification and outreach of event organisers and stakeholders who would influence the decision to stage the events.

  • Pitch and market Sentosa as a destination of choice for global and local event organisers to hold their events on the island. This would include the full suite of external engagement, from leading presentations to planning of familiarisation visits.

  • Support the team in the engagement of internal and external stakeholders, contributing both directly and indirectly to topline revenue and visitorship targets.

  • Conceptualise new concepts and ideas that may either be actualised internally, or collaboratively with other divisions, or staged by external event organisers.

  • Support festivalisation efforts to activate the island on a common theme and narrative, particularly for key/notable events. This would include engagement and co-creation with island partners, encouraging their participation; potentially with partner-led activations that can further amplify the event.

  • Manage and monitor requisite paperwork and processes per Sentosa’s procurement guidelines.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma / Degree in Sales, Events or Business Administration with at least 5 years working experience, preferably in events planning or tourism.

  • Passionate in key industries such as Music, Sports, and Arts (these are non-exhaustive); which often underpin the themes of world-class events. Advantageous if the candidate is a frequent follower and supporter of these events.

  • Strong network within both the local and global events industry. Candidate should have good connections to stakeholders within this space.

  • Proven track record in events partnership and execution.

  • Enthusiastic, self-driven and resourceful. Candidate should also be able to multi-task and work under pressure independently and as a team.

  • Strong business acumen, good analytical and negotiation skills and excellent interpersonal skills as well as excellent follow-up discipline.

  • Strong business writing and presentation skills

  • Attentive, meticulous, resourceful, and organised internally and externally.
