Managing Director, Commercial - Asia
The Managing Director, Commercial – Asia, executes the UATP sales strategy in the region. This position leads the sales efforts to recruit new Issuers and Merchants to the Network, grows the number of airlines utilizing UATP’s Alternative Forms of Payment connectivity and reconciliation services, and serves as lead point of contact for assigned strategic customers and maintaining C-suite or executive-level relationships with airlines, travel agencies, corporate customers and business partners. The Managing Director leads a team of regional commercial managers and directors, sets goals, provides training and coaching, and accounts for the team’s performance. This full-time position is based in Singapore and reports to the Senior Vice President, Commercial.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with key individuals and decision makers within region.
- Evaluate UATP product competitiveness in the market and develop business cases to support improvements or plans of action. Present cases to management to ensure approval and successful implementation.
- Lead strategic travel agency efforts and further strengthen UATP’s travel agency relationships in the assigned markets.
- Identify prospects and aggressively pursue opportunities to promote UATP technology solutions to existing customers in the assigned territory.
- Serve as lead commercial representative to market and sell UATP Alternative Form of Payment connectivity offerings to the existing Merchant base within the region.
- Serve as lead project manager for new Issuer implementations.
- Attend and participate in virtual and in-person meetings.
- Develop and maintain positive, respectful, and productive relationships with individuals inside and outside UATP.
Qualifications
- Eight to ten years of sales experience including proposal development, solution design, value quantification, capabilities demonstration via product demos, strong negotiation and closing skills. Travel payments experience or corporate travel consulting experience is strongly preferred.
- College degree in a business-related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills were acquired.
- Experience in successfully leading a small team of geographically dispersed sales professionals.
- Experience in project management and implementation and moving projects through multiple levels of management of an organization.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal). Advanced skill in Mandarin is preferred.
- Strong analytical ability. Must be able to translate hard numerical data into actionable insight.
- Ability and willingness to work in a highly collaborative, cross functional, and home-based work environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Reside in Asia and have eligibility to work in the country of residence and ability to provide proper documentation of eligibility.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 40% of the time. Trips may be overnight, weeklong, and weekends.
