Job Responsibilities
- Monitor alerts for various database platforms including MariaDB, PostgreSQL, EDB, Oracle, DB2, MSSQL, Redis, and MongoDB, and take appropriate actions.
- Conduct daily health checks of production databases to ensure high availability, security, and performance.
- Oversee daily backup procedures and implement recovery solutions as needed.
- Manage database availability and performance, including incident and problem resolution.
- Coordinate with the Major Incident Management (MIM) team to resolve critical issues.
- Perform periodic patching and upgrades of production databases.
- Collaborate with users and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve service-impacting issues promptly.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiency in database operations, implementing best practices to enhance reliability and performance.
- Maintain familiarity with multiple database systems, including MariaDB, PostgreSQL, EDB, Oracle, DB2, MSSQL, Redis, and MongoDB.
- Gain exposure to MariaDB replication concepts, perform backups, restores, and point-in-time recoveries, and ensure database security and performance.
- Acquire basic knowledge of backup and archive logging for Oracle/DB2 to ensure system resiliency.
- Monitor and act on LRQ and LOCKWAITS in Oracle/DB2/MSSQL environments.
- Monitor PostgreSQL/EDB LRQ, LRT, LRIIT metrics, and respond accordingly.
- Perform basic monitoring of Redis databases, shards, and synchronization status.
- Execute database patching and upgrades manually and via automation tools like Robosys.
- Stay informed about banking industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to database management, security, and compliance.
- Maintain basic knowledge of Linux (RedHat), AIX, and Windows operating systems and commands.
- Be willing to work odd hours as required and demonstrate motivation and commitment.
- Show a strong willingness to learn, excellent communication skills, and client management abilities.
