Position: Research Associate (Protein Sciences)
Job Summary
We are seeking a Research Associate to support both technical and client-facing activities. This role combines process science expertise in biologics production with customer collaboration, requiring this candidate to work closely with Senior Scientists (SS) to interpret client requirements, compile order information, and prepare accurate, timely quotations. The candidate will act as a critical link between clients, the SS team, and downstream stakeholders to ensure alignment on project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
Job Responsibilities:
1. R&D Project Support:
- Assist in the completion of R&D projects, including conducting experiments, data analysis, and report writing and record keeping.
2. Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Support the SS team in tech transfer, process development and troubleshooting activities
- Author/review technical documents (batch records, SOPs, risk assessments)
- Collaborate with Production, QC and OE teams to resolve deviations and optimize workflows.
- Analyze process data to identify trends and recommend improvements for yield, quality, or efficiency.
3. Customer Support and Order Management:
- Partner with the SS team to interpret customer requirements and translate them into actionable project plans.
- Prepare detailed technical proposals for client projects, including:
- Estimates for materials, labor, production and analytical testing.
- Delivery timelines aligned with facility capacity and client urgency.
- Maintain a tracker and provide clients/Senior Scientists with order updates within agreed timeframes.
- Assist in addressing client inquiries related to technical issues and escalate complex issues to the SS team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, Pharmaceuticals, Medicine, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable familiarity with upstream processes (including CHO cell cultures), downstream protein purification, and proficiency in process analytics including SDS-PAGE, HPLC and antibody characterization.
- Strong data analysis skills, proficient in using relevant software for data processing and report compilation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, able to collaborate effectively with customers and internal teams.
- 2+ years in antibody production, research, process development or technical services.
