What you will be working on

The officer will undertake policy reviews and collaborate with MPA on the formulation and operationalization of policies across various domains:

  1. Economic: Develop and support policies to keep Singapore competitive as a leading port and maritime hub. Key projects include:
  • Strengthening the competitiveness of our transhipment hub port amidst geopolitical and supply chain challenges
  • Sustainability and decarbonization initiatives
  • Leveraging R&D for productivity and resilience
  • Jobs and skills initiatives for upskilling and localization
  • Infrastructure: Support policies related to sea space use to enhance port capacity. Major projects include:
    • Tuas Port development and reclamation planning
    • Consolidation of port operations to Tuas Port
    • Review of anchorage space for maritime services
  • Security/International Relations: Develop policies to safeguard sovereignty and promote maritime interests, including bilateral and multilateral collaborations. This involves working with agencies like MFA, AGC, MINDEF/RSN, and MHA/PCG, and may include overseas travel and high-level engagements.
