Job description

We are looking for an Associate Chemist (contract position) to carry out testing of samples with exceptional attention to detail, ensuring adherence to procedures in both quality and timeliness. He/She will take proactive measures to maintain equipment in optimal condition and verify methods for their intended use, meticulously documenting all processes in accordance with quality system and accreditation requirements. Lastly, he/she should actively seek opportunities to enhance skills and competencies, aligning with the needs of respective sections and following the development plan.

A day in the life of an Associate Chemist …

1. Conduct analysis according to the plan to meet TAT (turnaround time).
2. Perform data processing and result validation.
3. Perform in-house maintenance according to schedule.
4. Lead root cause analysis for methods/instrumentation with support from team members.
5. Participate in audits and be responsible for closing gaps with team support.
6. Act as Internal Auditor for internal method audits.
7. Review technical documentation with team support.
8. Liaise with vendors (equipment, standards, etc.).
9. Coordinate internally for enquiries or result follow-up.
10. Manage inventory to ensure uninterrupted supply for analysis.
11. Perform regular 5S housekeeping.
12. Oversee instrument preventive maintenance and calibration where applicable.
13. Participate in method validation/verification with support from Chemist/Lab Manager as needed.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Sciences, or Analytical Sciences.
2. Experience in at least one key analytical technique.
3. Experience in contaminant analytical techniques and knowledge of Quality System and Good Laboratory Practice.
4. At least 2 years of working experience in an analytical laboratory.
5. Experience in ICPMS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry) and heavy metal testing is an advantage.
6. Candidate with ISO17025 accreditation would be beneficial.
