Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Operations Manager to join our catering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring high-quality food service, managing inventory, and leading a team of catering staff. This role requires a strong understanding of the catering business, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Management:
    1. Oversee Operations: Manage day-to-day catering operations, including event setup, execution, and breakdown.
    2. Food Quality and Presentation: Monitor and maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency to meet or exceed client expectations.
    3. Inventory Management: Manage inventory, ordering, and stock control to ensure adequate supplies and minimize wastage.
    4. Cleanliness and Safety: Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety standards are upheld throughout all catering operations.
  2. Staff Leadership and Development:
    1. Staff Management: Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise catering staff, including front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
    2. Team Development: Foster a positive work environment, promote teamwork, and provide coaching and feedback to enhance employee performance.
    3. Conflict Resolution: Address staff conflicts and performance issues, taking appropriate disciplinary actions when necessary.
    4. Training Programs: Develop and implement training programs to improve staff skills and knowledge.

Job Requirements:

  1. Education: Minimum of a Diploma in a related field.
  2. Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in the catering or hospitality industry.
  3. Skills:
    1. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    2. Strong leadership and communication skills.
    3. Ability to work independently and in a team.
    4. Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.

Certifications: Food safety certifications are an advantage.
