Job summary

A local educational organization in Singapore is seeking a passionate individual to support teaching at the Infant and Toddler Centre. The role entails curriculum planning, classroom management, and fostering child development. Job Description & Requirements

To provide support in the teaching at the Infant and Toddler Centre to meet operational needs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Planning and Implementation

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum with a strong understanding of the Early Years Curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Design activities that cater to the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual needs of the children.
  • Regularly review and adapt curriculum plans to align with developmental milestones and emerging trends in early childhood education.

2. Learning Environment

  • Set up a conducive and quality learning environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and active learning.
  • Ensure the learning spaces are well-maintained, organized, and equipped with appropriate resources.
  • Provide a safe and clean environment that supports the care and holistic development of the children.

3. Classroom Management

  • Practice effective and respectful classroom management strategies to create a structured and positive atmosphere.
  • Address behavioral challenges with empathy and professionalism.

4. Child Development and Assessment

  • Regularly update children's progress reports and maintain comprehensive portfolios for each child.
  • Provide meaningful insights and recommendations on each child’s development through observations and assessments.
  • Collaborate with parents and specialists, where necessary, to support each child’s developmental goals.

5. Parent and Family Engagement

  • Build trusting and positive relationships with parents through regular, transparent communication.
  • Establish effective home-centre partnerships to support the child’s learning and development.
  • Offer guidance to parents on extending learning activities at home.

6. Child Interaction

  • Foster respectful, trusting, and nurturing interactions with children to build strong educator-child relationships.
  • Model positive behavior and social-emotional skills to promote a supportive learning environment.

7. Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to build a positive and productive working environment.
  • Share resources, strategies, and best practices to enhance team performance.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities to maintain high teaching standards.

8. Compliance and Professionalism

  • Adhere to regulatory requirements and standards for early childhood care and education.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and commitment to the ethical standards of the teaching profession.
  • Stay updated with advancements in early childhood education through continuous learning and reflection.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (or equivalent) and/or Advanced Certificate in Early Years (ACEY)
