The Children and Youth Group (CYG) in The Salvation Army Singapore serves hundreds of vulnerable children and youth annually. Our services include preventive care, foster care, residential services, and reunification support for children returning to their families after safety concerns. POSITION: Social Worker (BFF)


RESPONSIBILITIES

About the Job

The Befrienders For Families (BFF) is a new program aimed at supporting the preservation and reunification of vulnerable children with their families.

As a Social Worker in the BFF team, you will facilitate change and improve the lives of children, youth, and their families. You will help develop and implement this befriender program to support children at risk or in foster care or children's homes.

Your role involves (i) providing professional assessment, planning, and intervention, (ii) expanding our volunteer network, and (iii) ensuring safety through effective risk management.

We seek someone with a proactive attitude, creative problem-solving skills, a passion for children and families, and the ability to connect and motivate volunteers. Experience working with clients at risk of protection issues or family violence is preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Case Management/Supervision
  • Support assigned cases through assessment, planning, intervention, and review.
  • Coordinate case discussions and network with other agencies.
  • Build community partnerships to facilitate access to help.
  • Assess safety risks and develop safety plans.
  • Manage crises and de-escalate situations.
  • Advocate for clients to address service gaps and promote welfare.
  • Maintain detailed case documentation.
  • Volunteer Pool Development and Management
  • Recruit, assess, and prepare befrienders.
  • Develop and deliver training for volunteers.
  • Support befrienders in their roles to aid children and families.
  • Community Resources and Networking
  • Establish partnerships internally and with external stakeholders to maximize resources.
  • Programme Development and Management
  • Assist in developing and evaluating programs.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures.
  • Professional Development
  • Keep skills and knowledge current through self-development and sector updates.
  • Administration
  • Prepare reports, proposals, and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Support staff orientation, appraisal, and training.
  • Ensure KPI achievement and accurate reporting to funders.
  • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.

OTHER INFORMATION

Working Hours

44 hours/week, 9:30 am to 6:30 pm, Monday to Friday (with 1-hour lunch). Flexibility required.
