Offer Description

SIT, as a University of Applied Learning, collaborates closely with industry in research. Our research staff are equipped with applied research skills relevant to industry demands while working on projects.

This role involves delivering an industry-funded research project by Building Construction Authority, titled: "Mixed-mode Ventilation for Office Buildings in the Tropics," in collaboration with the Department of Building, NUS.

The project aims to develop a real-time occupant-centric sensing and control strategy to optimize building performance for mixed-mode ventilation in tropical climates.

The successful candidate will be part of Work-Package 1, conducting laboratory experiments on thermal comfort and various scenarios of mixed-ventilation implementation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Participate in and manage the research project alongside the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI, and team members to ensure all deliverables are achieved.
  2. Assist in co-supervision of final year projects or capstone projects under the Project PI.
  3. Perform computational simulations and experimental studies within the project scope and timeframe.
  4. Assist in drafting reports, conference proceedings, and journal articles based on project outcomes.
  5. Prepare and share fortnightly reports on computational results with the program director and PI.
  6. Conduct Risk Assessments and ensure compliance with Work, Safety, and Health Regulations.
  7. Coordinate procurement and liaise with vendors and suppliers.
  8. Operate and maintain equipment independently and within a team.
Job Requirements
  1. Bachelor’s degree or Master’s (preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services.
  2. Strong knowledge and experience in building HVAC systems and controls.
  3. Hands-on experience in experimental studies, particularly thermal comfort studies, is highly advantageous.
  4. Experience with retrofitting building projects, project management, and working with contractors and suppliers, especially in HVAC systems.
  5. Ability to work independently with strong data analysis, communication, and interpersonal skills.
