About the Role

We are seeking a qualified candidate to join SCALE-Global as a Business Development Manager to augment our manpower resources.

Reporting directly to the Associate Director, you will play a key role in shaping and executing strategic initiatives to drive growth and maximize market potential. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse skill set, including problem-solving, stakeholder management, communication, and project management. Traits such as curiosity, collaboration, and adaptability are essential, especially in a dynamic start-up environment. The candidate should be results-driven, visionary, and have a deep understanding of the market landscape, with the ability to develop scalable business strategies covering B2B and B2C sales growth, client and stakeholder engagement, and building long-term relationships.

This role is initially offered on a 3-year renewable contract, with the possibility of transition to a permanent employment contract based on satisfactory performance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Opportunity Development: Identify potential opportunities, develop engagement plans, and manage projects from inception to closure.
  2. Market Insights: Keep abreast of global industry trends and current events related to the future of work to inform strategic decisions.
  3. Client and Partner Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners, leveraging market insights to position NUS’ lifelong learning products effectively.
  4. Stakeholder Engagement: Lead demand-side engagements, fostering trust and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver excellent customer experiences.
  5. Customer Advocacy: Act as the voice of the customer, sensing their needs and market dynamics, and communicating insights effectively.
  6. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate across functions, working closely with SCALE units, NUS Schools, Faculties, and Research Centres.
  7. Value Proposition: Clearly communicate NUS’ and SCALE’s value proposition to stakeholders.
  8. Institution-building: Support projects that enable SCALE to fulfill its mission sustainably and at scale.

Requirements:

Experience & Attributes

  • Minimum of five to six years in project management within a fast-paced environment.
  • At least one year of commercial business development experience.
  • Experience in executive education and/or youth programs is preferred.
  • Experience with customer relationship management systems like Salesforce is a plus.
  • Passionate about transforming higher education.
  • Exceptional project management skills for handling multiple workstreams and engaging with senior stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, collaborative, and adventurous spirit.
  • Confident decision-maker, ownership-driven, and responsible.
  • Proactive in taking actions to achieve positive outcomes, even in challenging situations.
