Job description

Step into a pivotal role where you'll manage projects, provide technical support to insurers and lawyers, deliver training in marine engineering and technical services. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the marine field.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Consulting and Technical Assistance : Deliver expert consulting and technical assistance on 2-Stroke Diesel engines.
  • Ship Casualties : Attend insurance casualties to determine nature, extent and cause of damage, report, attend repair follow ups, review reasonableness of invoices and prepare final reports.
  • Project Management : Oversee projects for clients, assuming roles such as Superintendent, Technical Manager, Site Manager, and Engine Technical Superintendent.
  • Client Engagement : Interface with clients to understand their requirements and provide customized solutions.
  • Technical Support : Address engine performance issues, troubleshoot operating problems, analyse fuel and lube oil, and conduct technical investigations.
  • Training and Development : Conduct training sessions for Shipmanagers and Insurers and develop training materials for RT-flex, WX (or X), and X-DF engines.
  • Operational Management : Manage weekly overtime planning, classroom scheduling, and utility management for the team and flex-instructors.
  • Dry Dock Support : Supervise shipyard mechanics, oversee engine repairs, shipyard jobs, during dry dock operations.
  • Loss Prevention: Ship inspections, ship yard inspections, ship management inspections for insurers pre-risk purposes.
  • Reporting : Prepare detailed casualty reports to insurers, daily project reports act as expert witness on Diesel engine failure cases.
  • Marketing: Interact with Insurers and Brokers on marketing and educational events.

Role requirements:

  • Extensive experience in marine engineering with a Class 1, Certificate of Competency (Motor, Unlimited)
  • Proven expertise in project management and client consulting.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical/software issues.
  • Experience in training and development of technical staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a small team.
