Job description

We are seeking a highly independent and proactive Accounts Manager to lead the financial operations of our multi-unit restaurant company. As one of only two members in the accounting department (assisted by a junior accounting clerk), you will be responsible for the full scope of accounting functions while ensuring seamless financial coordination across all restaurant locations.

This role demands strong autonomy, self-direction, and the ability to collaborate effectively with restaurant managers, chefs, and operational staff to ensure accurate financial reporting, cost control, and compliance. You must be comfortable taking ownership of processes, solving problems independently, and engaging with various teams to gather financial data and resolve discrepancies.

Location : River Valley

Reports directly to Managing Director

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

- Oversee all accounting functions, including AP/AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closings.

- Prepare accurate financial statements, budgets, and variance reports for management review.

- Monitor daily cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operations and timely vendor payments.

Cross-Restaurant Collaboration

- Engage regularly with restaurant managers and staff to verify financial data, address discrepancies, and ensure proper expense tracking.

- Train and support restaurant teams on proper invoice submission, cash handling, and expense reporting to maintain financial accuracy.

- Conduct periodic financial reviews with operational leaders to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve profitability.

Compliance & Process Improvement

- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.

- Lead annual audits and liaise with external auditors as needed.

- Identify inefficiencies in financial workflows and implement streamlined processes to enhance efficiency.

Team Leadership & Oversight

- Supervise and mentor the junior accounting clerk, reviewing their work and providing guidance.

- Engage and work with Human Resourse on payroll processes ensuring accuracy and compliance.

- Handle vendor payments, customer invoicing, and billing disputes as needed.

Requirements

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CMA a plus).

- Experience: 5+ years in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Restaurant/hospitality industry experience strongly preferred.

- Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel.
