About our group:
Seagate Research Group (SRG) conducts research to transform Seagate’s considerable technical expertise, innovation, and manufacturing excellence to develop innovative technologies for the rapidly growing datasphere.
SRG’s Software and Applied AI Research section conducts research in applying Machine Learning for Seagate advance project, products, and processes which includes material discovery, AI assisted design for the next generation HAMR technologies.
For designing our next generation HAMR HDD, we employ State-of-the-Art ML methods for Simulation and Model with Physics Informed ML Models. We also leverage AI/Generative AI to assist in design of HDD Components. Further we are exploring new frontiers in Material Discovery for our HDD media/other components. This research will imbibe our HDD media/components with advantageous and unique magnetic properties that will help us to achieve higher data areal densities and IO performance.
About the role - you will:
- Material Research: Conduct in-depth research on existing and emerging materials, identifying potential applications, and exploring new avenues for discovery.
- AIML Model Development: Develop and implement AIML models to predict material properties, optimize synthesis processes and accelerate discovery cycles.
- Data Analysis and Visualization: Use AIML techniques to analyze large datasets, identify patterns, and extract meaningful insights from material characterization data.
- Material Synthesis and Characterization: Collaborate with our Design Engineer and Other Material Scientist to design and conduct material synthesis and characterization experiments, providing guidance and analysis.
- Intellectual Property: Contribute to the development and protection of intellectual property related to material discoveries and AIML applications.
- Publication: Prepare and submit scientific publications and patent applications to disseminate research findings and advance the field.
