Job description

This role supports the HSE Manager in enhancing the overall Safety Culture of the organization.

Note: This is a 2nd shift-based role. Working hours are 3:30 pm - 12:00 am.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and improve HSE policies and guidelines in accordance with GEHSMS and local standards.
  • Enforce compliance with in-house safety rules and regulations.
  • Conduct safety briefings, incident case studies, and promote safety awareness.
  • Support HSE audits and inspections to identify gaps and propose corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPA development.
  • Track outstanding CAPAs to ensure timely and effective closure.
  • Review risk assessments and method statements submitted by contractors.
  • Develop initiatives and programs to foster safety culture.
  • Create HSE training materials for staff and contractors.
  • Organize regular safety training sessions.
  • Collaborate with management to address safety issues and oversee adherence to safety protocols.
  • Prepare for government and external audits.
  • Lead programs like Culture Based Safety and Courage to Care.
  • Manage chemical compliance per local and GEHSMS requirements.
  • Develop and enhance process safety policies and programs.
  • Lead process safety projects and documentation.
  • Manage environmental sustainability initiatives.
  • Provide EHS support, including emergency response during 2nd shift.
  • Implement action plans to address safety gaps.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, SHE, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • MSc in SHE or Workplace Safety & Health Diploma is an advantage.
  • 5-7 years of HSE experience in manufacturing, oil & gas, or pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Certifications like CSP, CIH, Lead Auditor, Fire Safety Manager, WSHO are advantageous.
  • Experience with process safety, ISO 45001 & 14001 systems, and safety programs.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, hazard assessments, and environmental practices.
  • Proactive, observant, and able to communicate effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently with high standards of safety awareness.
