An established industry player is seeking a skilled precision engineer to operate specialized machinery and enhance manufacturing processes. This role involves interpreting technical specifications, programming CAD/CAM for advanced machining, and conducting inspections to ensure quality. The ideal candidate will have significant experience, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to lead and organize workshop tools effectively. To work as a precision engineer, operating special-purpose equipment & machines to manufacture components and parts. The engineer is able to read technical manuals and drawing specifications to determine dimensions & tolerances of finished parts. He/she is capable of programming CAD/CAM for 3, 3+1, and 4+1 axis machining programs, and setting up for parts test cut requirements. A critical aspect of the job involves detecting faults in machining processes, rectifying root causes, and making adjustments on the machines to ensure smooth operation and quality machining work. Preferably, the candidate should have rich experience, be capable of leading and organizing workshop tools, holders, fixtures, automation tools, accessories, and materials. The engineer should continually seek to improve manufacturing processes for efficiency and productivity, and be proactive and productive as a team member.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Interpret technical drawings, requirements, and specifications
2. Apply approved and effective methods in manufacturing processes
3. Carry out CNC and CMM dimensional inspections for 2D/3D geometric measurements
4. Set up CAD/CAM and electrode programs
5. Automate or semi-automate machining processes for high productivity
6. Troubleshoot machining issues
7. Maintain a clean and safe working environment
8. Follow workplace safety and health (WSH) policies
9. Maintain machine air-pressure systems
10. Possess good knowledge of basic networking, servers, and IoT for shop floor control
11. Perform ad hoc duties as instructed by supervisor
12. Work a 5.5-day workweek
Requirements
1. Diploma or equivalent certificate in precision engineering (e.g., Higher Nitec)
2. Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
3. Proficient in 2D/3D dimensional inspection and geometric measurements
4. Resourceful and adaptable to changing work requirements
5. A problem solver with leadership qualities, organized, a team player, and good communication skills
