Qualifications

  • 5+ years of veterinary nursing experience with clinical competencies.
  • Proficient in animal care, triage, and clinical procedures.
  • Experience with wildlife and exotics is advantageous.

Job description

Mandai Wildlife Group is the steward of Mandai Wildlife Reserve, a unique wildlife and nature destination in Singapore that is home to world-renown wildlife parks which connect visitors to the fascinating world of wildlife. The Group is driving an exciting rejuvenation plan at Mandai Wildlife Reserve, adjacent to Singapore’s Central Catchment Nature Reserve, that will integrate five wildlife parks with distinctive nature-based experiences, green public spaces and an eco-friendly resort.

Main duties and responsibilities:

· Confidence in triage and stabilization of animals in both hospital and outdoor environment.

· Clinical proficiency in phlebotomy, endotracheal intubation, intravenous catheterization, bandaging and anaesthesia monitoring.

· Proficient in using different types of medical equipment such as anaesthetic machines, ventilator, patient monitors etc.

· Experience in usage and reprocessing of endoscopy equipment.

· Good knowledge in general animal diseases and treatment.

· Able to supervise and mentor junior staff in administration of treatment to patients.

· Oversee and assist clinical team in planning of daily cases and procedures.

· Oversee workflow and management of hospital and field procedures which includes, patient examinations, surgery, diagnostic imaging and anaesthesia.

· Able to supervise and mentor junior staff on animal restraint of various species.

· Assists with basic laboratory duties.

·Oversee care of hospitalised patients, including ward husbandry duties (den set-up, food preparation, feeding, cleaning, patient monitoring).

· Maintain high standards of housekeeping in the hospital.

· Responsible for management of pharmacy inventory, including sourcing and ordering of drugs.

· Responsible for care and maintenance of medical equipment, including sourcing and arranging for servicing.

· Maintains good relations with colleagues and external vendors.

· Maintain good clinical records and veterinary nursing SOPs.

· Oversee health and safety for the hospital, ensuring adherence to SOPs and safe work procedures.

· Responsible for the teaching and guidance of junior veterinary nurses and interns.

· Conducts skills training sessions for veterinary nurses.

· Attends veterinary nursing and zoo conferences and updates clinical team on current/new practices and techniques.

· Reviews veterinary nursing journals and contributes to the community.

Requirements:

· Diploma in Veterinary Nursing/Technology, Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent

· Minimum5 years of experience in veterinary nursing with competencies in clinical skills

· Experience in wildlife and/or exotics will be advantageous.

· Excellent team player who can also work well independently

· Able to work on weekends and public holidays

· Able to work in outdoor environment

· Possession of Class 3/3A licenses will be advantageous

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
