A leading company in renewable infrastructure is seeking an Asset Manager with strong ESG experience. This role is crucial for managing the performance of projects across jurisdictions, ensuring ESG objectives are integrated into all strategic decisions. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of relevant experience and a solid understanding of sustainability metrics.
We are seeking a proactive and strategic Asset Manager with strong ESG experience to manage the operational, financial and sustainability performance of renewable infrastructure projects/investments across multiple jurisdictions.
This role will support the Chief Sustainability Officer and act as the crucial link between shareholders and portfolio companies, ensuring that ESG objectives are embedded in governance, risk management, reporting, and strategic decisions.
You will work across multiple functional areas — operations, finance, ESG, and investments — and report to the Chief Sustainability Office. You will also collaborate closely with the Executive Committee or Project Management Office to monitor performance and identify risks and opportunities that drive value creation.
Key Responsibilities
• ESG Governance & Integration
- Track, report, and project ESG performance metrics in alignment with investment cases.
- Coordinate ESG strategy alignment between the company and investors.
- Continuously review and maintain ESG-inclusive asset-level risk registers covering climate, operational, market, and regulatory risks.
• Portfolio & Financial Oversight
- Monitor project-level performance (operations, financial and ESG) and present monthly to internal stakeholders.
- Conduct quarterly portfolio reviews and flag risks, underperformance, or ESG non-alignment for escalation.
- Review board papers, annual financial statements and management reports, and ESG disclosures to ensure consistency with investment strategy and stakeholder requirements.
• Investment & Due Diligence
- Support investment processes by evaluating ESG risks and opportunities during shadow due diligence.
- Participate in valuation discussions and ensure ESG considerations are incorporated into investment modelling and assumptions.
• Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with management, external advisors, and lenders, to align financial reporting, ESG targets, and governance standards across jurisdictions.
- Serve as the primary liaison between investors, internal committees and other relevant stakeholders to ensure consistent execution of asset and ESG strategies, and address any ESG queries.
- Act as the first point of escalation for any ESG or operational risks identified at the asset level, proactively coordinating with stakeholders to drive remediation plans.
- Lead or support adhoc strategic initiatives that require cross-border collaboration, including regulatory reviews, sustainability-linked financing initiatives, and capacity-building for ESG practices within the organisation.
Requirements:
• 10+ years’ experience in finance, asset management, or infrastructure investments, ideally within renewables or ESG-conscious sectors.
• Proven experience in integrating ESG frameworks into investment and asset management processes.
• Strong working knowledge of sustainability metrics, risk registers, ESG reporting standards, and board-level reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to bridge strategy and execution across financial and ESG dimensions.
• Cross-cultural work experience with exposure to diverse regulatory environments.
• Accounting qualification and strong financial acumen; experience with IFRS and valuation processes.
• Prior experience in a fund, investment firm, or advisory role with exposure to ESG strategy.
• Formal or executive education in finance, sustainability, or environmental economics is advantageous.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, especially across operational and board-level settings.
