Job description

Objective of the Position:
The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing financial operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information for the legal entities within Chemetall. This role includes enhancing reporting processes, providing strategic financial leadership, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and BASF Group standards.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting & Operational Controlling
  2. Be fully responsible for the accuracy and integrity of financial information for the legal entities within Chemetall.
  3. Lead and enhance monthly reporting and performance monitoring processes and tools.
  4. Define data and controlling concepts to interpret business performance aligned with strategies, providing timely analysis and recommendations for business steering.
  5. Define the annual budget in line with business strategies, managing data collection for accurate preparation.
  6. Support projects related to business steering concepts at global, regional, and local levels.
  7. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
  8. Oversee tax filings and manage relationships with auditors and tax advisors.
  9. Manage cash flow, accounts receivable/payable, and banking relationships to support liquidity.
  10. Organize Board and Shareholders’ meetings, maintaining statutory registers and filings.

Strategic Business & Capital Support:

  1. Provide financial leadership and strategic advice to the Country MD and stakeholders.
  2. Deliver insights on resource allocation, investments, and operational efficiency.
  3. Define and monitor KPIs for capital usage, including fixed assets and working capital.
  4. Enhance cash flow forecasting and capital planning processes.

Financial Advisory, Collaboration & Team Development:

  1. Provide technical financial advice and develop team knowledge, improving forecasting and budgeting processes.
  2. Implement controlling policies and procedures to improve data quality and decision-making.
  3. Support talent development and succession planning within the finance team.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  1. Ensure adherence to BASF’s compliance frameworks.
  2. Lead audit preparations and follow-up actions.
  3. Maintain risk mitigation practices and promote a culture of compliance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CA, or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive finance and controlling experience.
  • Experience in shared service and matrix environments.
  • Strong knowledge of local statutory and tax regulations; exposure to corporate secretarial duties is an advantage.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and strategic mindset.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and proactive leadership skills.
