Job description

We are looking for a cheerful and vibrant team player who is passionate about facilitating early childhood education through the Montessori Method of teaching. Our Centre is located at 15 Serangoon North Avenue 5 #04-00 Singapore 554360

Job Responsibilities

Children’s Learning & Development

  • Prepare lesson plans with clear objectives and learning outcomes according to the Montessori philosophy that will engage children and to meet varying needs of children.

  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment.

  • Develop and shape children’s character and moral values.

Custodial Care

  • Ensure children are supervised at all times.

  • Teach proper eating habits and personal hygiene.

  • Implement positive discipline if the needs arise.

  • Attend to children’s basic needs by providing routine care to the children.

Class Management

  • Establish and implement rules for behaviour and procedure for maintaining order.

  • Develop a classroom management system to ensure class runs smoothly.

  • Implement positive discipline if the needs arise.

  • Oversee children’s interaction with each other. Implement positive discipline if the needs arise.

Evaluation

  • Observe and evaluate children’s performance, behaviour, social development and physical health and make note of progress.

  • Conduct assessment of children’s abilities and progress.

  • Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental or health-related problems and discuss them with supervisor, parents/guardians for follow-up.

  • Prepare reports and portfolios on children.

  • Manage class parents’ portal.

Environment

  • Ensure classroom, equipment and facilities are clean, well-maintained, safe and secure at all times.

  • Design and decorate classroom to ensure that it is current and maintained it according to the guidelines of the centre.

  • Organise and label materials, and display children’s work in a manner appropriate for their age and perception.

  • Perform basic cleaning duties such as disinfecting toys and equipment or cleaning up areas after mealtimes or snacks.

  • Be familiar with emergency procedures.

  • Render first aid when necessary.

Communication

  • Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children can understand.

  • Prepare periodic progress reports and conduct parent-teacher conference.

  • Address parent questions and concerns.

  • Contribute articles to the Centre’s newsletter for parents.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Diploma in Montessori Teaching.

  • DECCE-T, ACEY or FCECCE will be an added advantage.

  • At least 1 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.

  • Patience, flexibility and love for children.
